Accessibility
We want the Goods Shed to be welcoming and accessible to as many people as possible.
Access to the Goods Shed
The Goods Shed has step-free access and a lift suitable for wheelchair users. An accessible toilet is also available.
If you require assistance during your visit, please speak to a member of staff or one of our volunteers.
Access to the Train
A portable ramp is available to help wheelchair users and people with limited mobility board the train.
Our trains are historic vehicles and were not originally designed to modern accessibility standards. The internal space, door widths and seating layout may restrict access for some wheelchairs and larger mobility aids.
If you would like to visit the train and have particular access requirements, please contact us before your visit. We can discuss the available space and help you decide whether the train will be suitable.
Planning Your Visit
Please contact us before visiting if you would like information about:
-
step-free routes through the building;
-
wheelchair or mobility-aid access;
-
accessible toilet facilities;
-
access to the train;
-
seating or rest arrangements;
-
bringing an assistance dog;
-
any other reasonable adjustment that may help you enjoy your visit.
We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate individual requirements wherever practicable.
Accessibility arrangements may occasionally be affected by restoration work, events or temporary changes within the building. Please contact us if you would like to check the current arrangements before travelling.
