Q. What is the history of the Railway Goods Shed?

A: The Goods Shed is a Grade II listed building that once served the local railway. It has been carefully restored to preserve its heritage while providing modern facilities for the community.

Q. What does it mean that the building is “Grade II listed”?

A: Being Grade II listed means the building is of special historic or architectural interest. Any alterations or improvements must respect its character and be approved through heritage regulations.

Q. Is the Goods Shed open to the public?

A: Yes! The Goods Shed is open to everyone. You can visit the café, attend events, or simply enjoy the unique historic atmosphere.

Q. Is there parking available on-site?

A: Yes, there is free on-site parking, including accessible spaces.

Q. Is the building wheelchair accessible?

A: Yes. The Goods Shed has step-free access and accessible toilet facilities.

Q. Can I bring my dog?

A: Well-behaved dogs are welcome in designated areas of the café (please check signage or ask a member of             staff).

Q. Is there Wi-Fi available?

A: Yes, free Wi-Fi is available throughout the building.

Q. What are the café’s opening hours?

A: The café is open Wednesday - Saturday, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm. Hours may vary for holidays or special events.

Q. Do you offer vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free options?

A: Yes, our menu includes a range of options to suit different dietary needs. Please tell our staff about any specific allergies or preferences.

Q. Is there outdoor seating available?

A: Yes, we have a lovely outdoor seating area located on our biodiversity walk where you can enjoy your food and      drink while taking in the surroundings of our community garden.

Q. Do you accept card payments?

A: Yes, we accept both cash and card payments, including contactless.

Q. What kinds of events do you host?

A: We host a wide range of community activities — from family fun days and craft fairs to workshops, talks, and             support groups.

Q. How can I hire a space at the Goods Shed for my event?

A: You can enquire about room hire through our Contact or Venue Hire page. We have flexible spaces suitable       for meetings, classes, exhibitions, and celebrations.

Q. Do you run regular community programmes or clubs?

A: Yes, we work with local groups to offer ongoing activities such as wellbeing sessions, sewing classes, and                 community meet-ups. Check our social media channels for details.

Q. What is Adult Community Learning?

A: Adult Community Learning (ACL) offers local people the chance to gain new skills and qualifications in a                  friendly, supportive environment.

Q. What courses are available at the Goods Shed?

A: Courses include pre-GCSE and GCSE Mathematics and English, Digital Literacy and ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages).

Q. Who can join the classes?

A: Anyone aged 18 or over can join. Whether you’re returning to learning, looking to improve your skills for work,      or learning English as a new language, ACL has a course for you.

Q. How do I enrol in an ACL course?

Q. When do the courses run?

A: Courses run throughout the year, often during term time. Timetables vary by subject — please check the ACL         website or contact their local office for current schedules.
