A Café with Community at Its Core
Welcome to Caffi’r Sied
Located within the historic Railway Goods Shed, Caffi’r Sied is more than just a café — it is a place where heritage, community and great food come together.
Our vision is to create a warm and welcoming space that celebrates the history and character of this unique building, while offering high-quality, homemade food made with care.
The café is led by Cafe Supervisor Louise Morgan, alongside two members of staff and our fabulous team of volunteers who help bring Caffi’r Sied to life. Together, we are passionate about creating a space where everyone feels welcome — whether you are a local visitor, a railway enthusiast, a family enjoying a day out, or simply looking for a relaxing place to enjoy good food and drink.
Homemade Food with a Welsh Heart
Our menu focuses on a carefully selected range of dishes — small, thoughtful and full of flavour. We prioritise healthier options wherever possible while celebrating traditional Welsh recipes and flavours.
Where we can, we use locally sourced ingredients and during the growing season we will incorporate produce from our own garden into weekly specials, bringing fresh, seasonal ingredients directly from the garden to your plate.
We are proud to support Welsh producers and stock a selection of Welsh favourites, including the famous Tregroes Waffles and traditional Welsh tea.
Our menu staples include homemade Bara Brith and freshly made Welsh Cakes, alongside a variety of homemade dishes prepared with care.
We will also try our best cater for a range of dietary needs, with options available for vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free diets, ensuring there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Alongside our main menu, we offer:
-
Meal deals
-
Takeaway cakes and treats
-
A small children’s menu
-
Our Seasonal and specials board
Supporting Local Producers
We believe in knowing where our food comes from and celebrating the people behind the ingredients we use.
Our meat is currently sourced from Myrddin Heritage, a Carmarthenshire-based producer who shares our values of quality, sustainability and traditional methods.
Myrddin Heritage uses ex-breeding sow meat, which offers an exceptional depth of flavour that comes from mature animals. This approach supports a more sustainable way of farming by valuing the whole animal and respecting traditional, ethical farming practices.
Their philosophy reflects our own:
using natural ingredients, avoiding unnecessary preservatives, and keeping traditional food-making methods alive.
By sharing the stories behind our suppliers and ingredients, we hope to help customers understand where their food comes from and appreciate the care that goes into every product.
A Café Connected to the Community
During school holidays and half-term periods, Caffi’r Sied will work alongside themed events at the Railway Goods Shed, creating food and drink experiences that complement the activities taking place.
We also do catering packages for events .
These events will help the café become an important part of the visitor experience — welcoming families, the local community and visitors from further afield.
Our aim is for people to experience much more than just food and drink. We want Caffi’r Sied to be a place where people can relax, discover the story of the building and enjoy the atmosphere of this special heritage space.
Celebrating Railway Heritage
The Goods Shed has a fascinating history, and we want the café environment to reflect and celebrate that heritage.
Through thoughtful touches around the café, we hope to share the story of the building and its railway past, creating a place where visitors can enjoy quality food while also connecting with the history around them.
As the building continues to undergo improvements and development, we appreciate your patience and support while we grow.
Our Promise
Our goal is simple:
To create a place where people come not only for delicious homemade food and drink, but also to enjoy the atmosphere, community spirit and history of Welsh railway heritage.
We look forward to welcoming you to Caffi’r Sied — a café with a story to tell.
The Story Behind Caffi’r Sied name and logo
At the heart of the Goods Shed is our amazing community of volunteers. They are the people who help bring this special place to life, and their ideas, passion and creativity play a huge part in shaping its future.
When it came to choosing the name for our café, we wanted our volunteers to have their say. After all, without them, there would be no Goods Shed.
Our volunteers came forward with a wonderful collection of ideas — from thoughtful and meaningful suggestions to some wonderfully creative and slightly wacky names! After narrowing the list down to our favourite choices, we put them to a vote.
The winning name was Caffi’r Sied.
We felt it captured exactly what we wanted the café to represent. Simple, authentic and connected to the building itself — a café within the Goods Shed, celebrating its history while creating something new for the future.
A Logo with a Story
We are incredibly lucky to have such a talented team of volunteers, and our beautiful logo was created by one of our own volunteers, Danielle Morris-Brewer.
Understanding the history of the Goods Shed and the values behind Caffi’r Sied, Danielle created a design that reflects the character and heritage of the building.
The logo is based around an authentic image of the Goods Shed, capturing its historic feel while giving it a fresh new identity. The symbols within the design connect with the original Goods Shed branding, while the slightly raised banner represents something that is very important to us — the way our volunteers and staff support, encourage and lift each other up.
Together, we achieve what we do because everyone plays their part.
The railway track detail within the double “F”s ties the design together beautifully, celebrating the building’s railway heritage and reminding us of the journey that brought us here.
Building a New Chapter
We are incredibly proud to be creating a new chapter for this beautiful heritage building.
Caffi’r Sied is built on the foundations of community, teamwork and respect for the past, while looking forward to the future. We are excited to continue growing, welcoming visitors and bringing people together through good food, shared experiences and the stories that make this place so special.
Our hope is that Caffi’r Sied becomes a place where the community of Wales can come together — a place to remember where we have come from, celebrate who we are, and cherish the history that has shaped us.
The Garden Guardians of the Goods Shed
The Goods Shed is surrounded by more than just history — it is also home to our wonderful Garden Guardians, a dedicated group of volunteers who nurture and care for the raised beds across the site.
Working alongside Caffi’r Sied Supervisor Louise Morgan, our gardening volunteers have created a special connection between the garden and the café, growing fresh produce that can be used in our dishes and shared with the community.
This year has been a huge success, with produce from the Goods Shed gardens making its way into many of the meals and specials served at Caffi’r Sied. It has been incredibly rewarding to see the hard work, care and dedication of our gardeners transformed into fresh ingredients on our customers’ plates.
Throughout the growing season, our raised beds have produced a wonderful variety of crops, including:
-
Fresh salad leaves
-
Beetroot
-
Radishes
-
Potatoes
-
Carrots
-
Runner beans
-
Pumpkins
-
Tomatoes
-
Peas
-
And much more!
Every seed planted and every crop harvested helps us continue our commitment to celebrating local, seasonal produce and reducing the distance between the garden and the plate.
Growing Towards the Future
The plans for the Goods Shed gardens continue to grow. Next year, our aim is to expand what we produce even further, with the ambition of growing enough vegetables to create our much-loved vegetable cawl, alongside fresh ingredients for our seasonal specials menu.
The garden is a wonderful example of what can happen when our community comes together — volunteers sharing skills, growing food and helping to create something special for everyone to enjoy.
So, when you visit Caffi’r Sied, keep an eye on our specials board and discover what seasonal treasures our Garden Guardians have helped grow.
